Another reason is that he gives great birthday gifts. We had been talking about learning to make sushi for a while, so he surprised me with an entire sushi kit! And not just one of those boxed kits, he actually went out and collected the mats, chopsticks, rice, wasabi paste, etc. separately. That just makes it more thoughtful, you know?
Mid-roll.
We just made veggie rolls because we're not quite ready to commit to raw fish. I've surprised myself by trying all sorts of sushi at restaurants, but preparing it seems like a whole other thing.
Our next sushi will be "frushi"(fruit rolled in sweet rice) and "cushi" (curry rolled in rice - there's no such thing, ours will be the first).

yeah. you're right, I am great.
yay for veggie sushi--it's the only way i ever go.
That looks like SO MUCH fun! I think you've inspired me to try some sushi- but I'm with you- none of this raw fish that I prepare, quite yet. But I love it at restaurants!
PS the little baking cups I used for the pumpkin cupcakes are large mixed nut cups? Does that make sense? I found them at Roberts in the wedding section. Those are full sized but I think they have them in mini sized too. I like them because they are taller & because the don't need to be in cupcake pans. I just put mine on a regular cookie sheet. And lets be honest-they're cute!
PPS You're the bomb!
we always want to get the sushi kit things too...maybe i should be thoughtful and get andy the pieces individually. we should all go out for sushi sometime! nice thought, huh?
That looks like fun Steph! Good for you!
Could you guys be any cuter?
