Dear Moms:
Did you see Oprah the other day? (Nanc, I know you did) Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica Seinfeld, who is super adorable, has a new cookbook. It's all about using vegetable puree in EVERYTHING you cook/bake in order to get your kids eating veggies but without fighting with them about it. But you know what else it's good for? Me! And other grownups who don't like a lot of vegetables. This might change my life.
I wondered about how many servings of veggies these recipes include, she only puts 1/2 cup in each, so sometimes you're not even getting a full serving. I found this out on Oprah.com, there are recipes and videos there. Definitely worth looking at. Also, she did say that she gives her kids vegetables on the plate, but now she doesn't have to nag because she knows they are eating it in their mac n' cheese.
And then that Doctor guy was on after Jessica Seinfeld, talking about why kids don't like vegetables. He said something about cavemen(children) and then he talked about "white kids." It was not news to me, or probably to most of us who spend time with children. They're the kids who only eat or prefer white food. Here's one:
Genevieve only likes to eat white food, hence the vanilla ice cream (although I've heard she has extended her prejudice to wheat bread). She is too cute. Here is Rob's other niece, Annalise (I may not be spelling their names right. Rob?). As you can see, she is okay with chocolate sauce on her white ice cream.

Chocolate is okay...because it's sweet :)
Yeah, it might not have a full serving of veggies, but a little bit is probably better than none at all.
If you get it (the book), tell me if you like it, k?
I'm not sure I'm going to get it. I may just start adding purees to things--this involves going shopping...and they just closed the nice grocery store I used to go to. It had the cheapest produce. *Sigh*
I guess I'll find somewhere else to shop.
ya i saw that episode. i want to actually try something with a puree in it. like in real life. so i can tell if it tastes different.
