I am trying to decide what to do with my hair. I feel that I have to pick one or the other so I can get a cut that would enhance the beauty of it, I need all of the help I can get. Does it really even matter? I guess I can trade it off every other day. What do you think?

Humble Pie
I owe a big apology to these guys:

I don't know why I thought I could be as cool as them. A couple of weeks ago on "Battle Apple" one of the chefs made mini-caramel apples. And they were so cute that I wanted to make them for a Fall dessert party that Monica and I threw for our friends.
The first picture is what we ended up with (not so cute), the others give some idea of the pain it took to get there.

The caramel didn't stick. And because Monica might say it's because I added water to the caramels, let me just say one more time that the directions say to add water and that's exactly what I did last time I made normal caramel apples. To make these you use a melon baller, and so you end up without any skin - we think the problem really was that the caramel had nothing to bind to.
So, Iron Chefs, once again I am humbled at your culinary genius. I will just leave the cooking lessons to Rachel Ray (her pumpkin and black bean soup was actually replicable.... just not as cute).

Lisa - come back soon!
Here are some of my pictures from the Sisters Dinner. Even though I was really annoyed with the Outback, we had a really good time, and the three (okay, so now I think I'm exaggerating) hour ordeal was quite worth it.

This is what Alicia eats when she goes to the Outback. She's disgusting. Oh, and I got to sit between her and Lisa, who was taking bites of it also, so I was right in the smelly-mushroom path.

A whole new world!
Dear Moms:
Did you see Oprah the other day? (Nanc, I know you did) Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica Seinfeld, who is super adorable, has a new cookbook. It's all about using vegetable puree in EVERYTHING you cook/bake in order to get your kids eating veggies but without fighting with them about it. But you know what else it's good for? Me! And other grownups who don't like a lot of vegetables. This might change my life.
I wondered about how many servings of veggies these recipes include, she only puts 1/2 cup in each, so sometimes you're not even getting a full serving. I found this out on Oprah.com, there are recipes and videos there. Definitely worth looking at. Also, she did say that she gives her kids vegetables on the plate, but now she doesn't have to nag because she knows they are eating it in their mac n' cheese.
And then that Doctor guy was on after Jessica Seinfeld, talking about why kids don't like vegetables. He said something about cavemen(children) and then he talked about "white kids." It was not news to me, or probably to most of us who spend time with children. They're the kids who only eat or prefer white food. Here's one:

Genevieve only likes to eat white food, hence the vanilla ice cream (although I've heard she has extended her prejudice to wheat bread). She is too cute. Here is Rob's other niece, Annalise (I may not be spelling their names right. Rob?). As you can see, she is okay with chocolate sauce on her white ice cream.

before and after
okay, so in the first picture I'm trying to attempt the classic "before" picture on makeovers... people always look so depressed, if they would have just smiled and put on some makeup they would already look a ton better. Then I took this next picture, after I had done my hair and was sad, for real, about the pending departure of my long long hair.
I like it.
the other windy city
I only had 5 weeks of summer this year and I was able to go on a few "trips" during that short time. This weekend I pretended it was still summer and went on one more trip, this time to Seaside, OR with Rob and his family. Even though it was super windy and it rained most of the time, it was pretty great.
Here is a video of how windy it was. This video is a lot of me saying, "can you tell how windy it is?" because I couldn't think of what else to say. You can't actually tell that I was about to fly away, you just have to imagine. Right after this it started raining and so Rob and I tried to run back to the hotel, against the wind. It was my workout for the weekend.
Rob with his niece, Genevieve, having some fun at the tiny little mall downtown. We went on a carousel ride in the same mall just before this.
Here is a cute one of us on the balcony of the hotel room. I really should have gotten a picture of the room, which was more like a house that I want to someday live in than a hotel room. I think that leaving that hotel room was one of the reasons we were sad that we had to leave early. The other reasons were because work and school were waiting back in Seattle for us, and we had such a great time with his family!

We hardly ventured out because of the weather, and pretty much had to dare each other to leave the warm and dry hotel in order to check out the beach. Just like we had to dare each other to jump in the swimming pool (we still "swam" despite the weather, most of our "swimming" was in the hot tub. We even played a game of Marco Polo with his niece in the hot tub!).
This monument marks the end of the Lewis and Clark trail. I don't know how they got home from here.

I'll go first
Lisa came to town this week for work and she got us all organized for a girls night. Dinner was okay (I did get my mushrooms though). Outback was having a bad night, but we still had fun. We laughed and just chatted it up. I love the women in my family. I am so blessed to have these ladies as family and friends.
Steph and Monica are doing No Sugar until Christmas (hard core). Stay strong girls!
Oh, and P.S. My mom is looking GOOD!
